Clottey, Wussy

shhh, ima take a nap

Its no secret that I’m a die hard Pac fan. The man is a generational talent.

I hadn’t heard of the Ghanian native Josh “Grandmaster” Clottey until his fight with Cotto, and didn’t remember him afterwards. It was a plain jane fight with an early knockdown by Cotto. Now I can’t judge for certain, but it seems to me that it was Clottey’s fight to win. His formula seems to be to shell up and wait for punches; the problem with that being hes a big guy for the welterweight division (5’8″ and a flush 147 lbs). He’s not fast enough to seize opportunities in a divison filled with superstar talent and speed. A taller guy like him with the reach he has (70cm) needs to be more aggressive or else the fights end up yawn inducing.

Which is exactly how Pacquiao-Clottey turned out. I should have known too, luckily I wasn’t paying to see it or I would have been sore. Here’s the fight in a nutshell; Pac-man averaged 100 punches a round, and Clottey averaged an embarassing 25. It wasn’t a fight, it was genocide. I had to agree with Lederman on his card, he and I both had Pacquiao winning every round 120-108. Clottey couldn’t justify his presence in the ring with the boss.

I was listening to JC’s trainer in the preshow talking about how his fighter deserved to be in the spotlight considering his record but I could tell that he knew he was talking out his ass. The truth is Josh is never going to be big over here in the US A, hes just, boring.
